CO2 pistols
CO2 pistols obtain their energy to fire from carbon dioxide compressed in a cartridge. A standard cartridge contains 12 grams of carbon dioxide. The cartridge is usually inserted under the handguards of CO2 airsoft guns. Some models have a common container for the plastic 6 mm BBs and for the cartridge. The cartridges are disposable, they cannot be refilled once they are used up. There are also cartridges that can be refilled, but they are several times more expensive than the disposable ones. The actual number of shots a single canister can deliver depends on many factors, such as the temperature of the environment in which the firing takes place, the rate of firing, the design of the CO2 gun and its performance, and whether or not it has a Blow- Back function. As a rule, however, the capacity of the cartridge is on the level of a few dozen shots.
It is not recommended to keep CO2 guns under pressure all the time (with the cartridge installed). It is recommended to install the cartridge in the gun just before shooting and to remove the cartridge from the airsoft gun after shooting is finished. If you keep the CO2 airsoft gun under pressure for a long time, it will shorten the life of the seals, which may result in a system leak later on (carbon dioxide leak after installing the cartridge) and a replacement set of seals will be necessary. It is also recommended to occasionally use a service cartridge with a silicone oil admixture to lubricate both the seals and the moving internal mechanisms. The life of the seals may not be the same as the length of the warranty period as it depends on proper use and maintenance. If replacement gaskets are available for a particular model, it is recommended that they be purchased for stock.
Many models of CO2 airsoft pistols have a power output of over 2.00 Joules, so they are more powerful than most manual, electric or GAS airsoft pistols. According to the power (projectile energy) the right airsoft pellets needs to be chosen in terms of weight. However, if the shooting of such airsoft guns is to be intense, the disadvantage is that you need to have several cartridges with you at all times.
Many replicas of various airsoft pistols such as Beretta M92, CZ P-09, CZ 75D Compact, Glock 17, Glock 19, Walther P99 and many others can be found in the form of CO2 airsoft pistols. Many models also have a Blow-Back function. This feature ensures that the slide moves the same way with each shot as it does on real semi-auto pistols. CO2 airsoft pistols are usually equipped with a semi-auto firing mode.
